As we begin a new year in this crazy uncertain world that we live in today let us pray.
Before we do things this year, let’s pray like we never have before. This country we live in needs God more now than ever in our lifetime. So, let us seek Him out first. If you wanted to ask someone for guidance, wouldn’t you ask God first? We probably are all praying several times a day now, I’m sure. So, it couldn’t hurt to do more, could it? We are told that in everything by prayer let our request be known. We need this year more than ever to pray before we do anything. Pray when you wake and be thankful for another day. Pray before you leave your home for a safe journey throughout the day. Pray for guidance in all you do or say on this journey each day. Pray before you make a purchase. Pray before you go to class, to learn or to teach. Pray before you study for wisdom. Pray that God will guide your tongue each day to help you say the right things to help others. Pray for guidance in discipline when necessary. Pray and be thankful for your food. The clothes on your back. The roof over your head. Pray for your family’s health, all your loved ones and our congregation. Pray before you study. Pray before you end your day. Pray for more peace and safety for our officers. Pray before you do anything this year.
Philippians 4:4-7 (Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.)
1Thessalonians 5:16-18 (Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.)
James 5:16 (Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.)
Luke 6:12 (It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in payer to God.)
Matthew 21:21-22 (And Jesus answered and said to them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will happen. And in all things you ask in prayer, believing you will receive.)
Mark 11:24 (Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you received them, and they will be granted you.)
Pray this year more than ever and believe that God will grant it to us.
In Him, Chuck
