My daughter Jenny, at about 4 years of age, was trying to explain an apparently very difficult idea to her grandma. After several unsuccessful tries at an explanation, grandma again told Jenny, “I’m sorry but I still can’t figure out what you are telling me.” Jenny, being a little frustrated said, “Grammy, it’s easy to explain but it’s hard to understand.” This happens to me frequently. How about you?
An example of this is found in the book of Romans 5:8-11.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
Easy to explain, hard to understand! Thank you God for your tremendous love that we may never understand while on this earth. Someday it will be made clear to us, just as the words of some of our favorite hymns state: “In the sweet by and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore.” “He prepared us a dwelling place there.” “Christ died for us while we were sinners.” Hard to comprehend. Oh, what a Savior we have!
